Today I partnered with the Collegiant Middle Level Association (CMLA) on the campus of Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and together we raised over $500 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Fund, a non-profit which raises money for childhood cancer research. I stood for six hours in the union and I am so glad I did! It was a great way to spend my day off of school. (Picture: Sarah was one of my sister's school friends. She drove all the way up to BG to donate. It was great to see her. She read a poem about friendship at Christi's funeral. It's on the mantal over our fire place.)
Thank you so very much, everyone! This year I asked for donations to "Kids Cancer Crusade" instead of birthday gifts! I received $180 which allows me to purchase treats and gifts for TWO little girls who are in for the fight for their lives. I know how gifts brightened Christi's days and I can't wait to go shopping for them. (Kids Cancer Crusade, a 100% non-profit, was started by Jennifer Lehman in honor of my sister, Christi Thomas! Thanks, Jennifer for being a sweet and wonderful person! (Picture: Jennifer & Christi at Christi's last dance recital, 2006)
There's a new man in my life! This little guy's name is Bryton. He's a Miracle Child. Bryton treats at Mery Children's Hopsital in Toledo and suffers from celliac disease. I put his card on my bathroom mirror and I will keep praying for him. Isn't he the cutest?! Today's service work, fundraising at iHOP for the Children's Miracle Network was rewarding.....and emotional. A teenage cancer survivor, who just made it to remission, came up to me and said, "I'm so sorry. I just learned your sister died of cancer." I pray he remains cancer free forever!
