Thanks to our Columbian HS Band, Cheerleaders and Flag/Dance Team for Promoting the Awareness of Pediatric Cancer at last night's game!
A couple of weeks ago, I went with our Band Booster's President and asked our band director if we could promote pediatric cancer awareness month by having all of the band members wear gold ribbons. He agreed. Some of us gals prepared the gold ribbons and distributed them before last night's football game. We even got a bit of coverage in the newspaper. In addition, my cheerleading advisor allowed all of us cheerleaders to wear the ribbons and to put gold ribbons in our hair too. We, along with the families affected by childhood cancer, released gold balloons before the game. This was to spread awareness and to honor those who have fought and who are still fighting. The event was helpful for the healing of our whole town; one forgotten victim was re-honored and another boy let the world know he had cancer for the very first time. A few brave little fighters were their with their parents and Christi's memory was also recognized. Wow. I'm so thankful the school let us dedicate this game to such a deserving cause. GOLD - because children are more precious than gold!
