A love for theater and a desire to travel brought us to Stratford, Canada for their exuberant theatre festival. We saw three Broadway quality shows during our trip; Man of la Mancha, Crazy for You and King Lear. I've always wanted to see Shakesphere preformed live and King Lear ended up being my favorite of the three shows we saw. The Festival Theatre itself is amazing! It was my first time with a thrust stage (where the stage is 'thrust' into the center of the audience) and I understand why it's every story teller's dream - the action is at your fingertips, making it seem like you're part of the story. The entire city of Stratford pulses with the festival vibe. We'd have coffee and actors from last night's show would be dining behind us. It was amazing! In addition, performers of all sorts adorned the corners and filled the streets. It's a city that could be explored every summer with the same amount of intrigue. I hope to get back there soon!
