Early this morning, my school's competitive writing team packed onto a bus and headed to Lourdes University for a writing competition! At the competition, we were asked to respond to three writing prompts with only forty minutes each to create something outstanding. I feel blessed to have been a part of this writing team. It was fun to get to spend the day with so many creative people! Our team didn't place, but I was honored to be recognized by receiving the Meg Heminger Memorial Award. This award was started to carry on the legacy of Meg Heminger, who recently passed away. I hope to be able to learn more about the family and Meg Heminger. It's exceedingly kind of them to give this award in memory of her. Unlike athletes, many writers aren't recognized for their talent. When I received this award, I couldn't stop smiling because all of the hours I had spent writing passionately in my room, paid off.
